Intimacy or Fear
Last week was one of those weeks. Several people sent me links to videos about current events and politics. I am sure that they intend to help prepare people for disasters and difficult seasons. However, most of the time these videos are based on fear. When we operate from fear, we entertain the ridiculous. For example, President Trump does not have the power to invoke martial law globally. Every country in the world would have to agree with him on this issue. Have we ever seen all the governments of the world agree on anything? Why would we think this could happen now? President Trump also does not have a secret command base underneath Antarctica by which he will govern the world. How would that be possible? In what reality would China and Russia ever let go of their controls to let someone else protect them? When we get in fear, we react rather than think. (However, if you are in the right frame of mind, the absurd can be entertaining.)
All week long I found myself thinking, “If we just had more intimacy with God?” I know my Father. He is for us and wants to provide for us. So, what is the problem? We are in the way and are our issues in the way? Is our fear, our desire to provide for ourselves, and our ability to self-comfort all in the way of God’s word, His glory, and His love.
As I thought about preparing this blog, I found myself wondering how do I avoid just handing out another opinion? How do I resonate with your heart? I would like your feedback. I think the answer is in God’s love and intimacy because that is what keeps pulling at my heart. More love! More intimacy! Let me know if this is true for you.
I don’t find myself agonizing or panicking over current world events. Sometimes I think maybe we are headed for something like the race riots of the 1960s, or maybe civil war could break out again. Candidly, I spend most of my days enfolded in what God is doing. I see physical healings, provision, relational healings, and more happening daily. I am aware of God’s glory all over the earth even in these times. Because of being enfolded in all that He is and what He is doing, I miss a lot of the current goings-on. I am not saying that this is what God wants for you. Maybe you have found God’s will for your life and it’s to be in politics. But, if that is true, you will know because of the fruit you will bear. You know…love, joy, peace, patience are the fruits of the spirit. If you are involved in politics and full of frustration and division. Could it be that something is wrong?
I am going to share some scriptures with you. They are well-meaning. However, they are just words if they don’t sink into your heart. Can I encourage you to spend some time meditating on them?
Jesus is our King.
Revelations 19: 16 “On his robe and on his thigh, he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.”
Jesus is our Lord and King. No one else should be king in your life, not the mayor of your city, not the governor of your state or territory, not the president or prime minister of your country. Yes, you should give your government what is required of you. These leaders were put in your life for a reason. But you don’t serve them. You serve your Lord Jesus first.
Acts 5:29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.”
God is the Reigning Authority.
Psalm 97:1, “The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice;
let the many coastlands be glad!
2 Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him
and burns up his adversaries all around.
4 His lightnings light up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all the peoples see his glory.
7 All worshipers of images are put to shame
who make their boast in worthless idols;
worship him, all you gods!”
Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.”God’s righteousness includes integrity, virtue, and justice. Justice is the act of setting things right.
Okay, that’s all I have for now. For you, I pray the peace that passes understanding. May you be enveloped in His love.
